She received a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in mild/moderate disabilities from Louisiana State University, attended the National Montessori Training Center in New Orleans, and has worked in public, private, and Montessori settings here in New Orleans since 2009. In 2019, she completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, delving into the intricacies of yoga poses (asanas) and exploring the broader philosophy behind yoga's eight limbs. • Lya is a Mexican native turned culinary enthusiast and Montessori advocate. Her journey began in the vibrant streets of Mexico, but her dreams led her to the USA, where she honed her skills as a chef. However, it wasn't until she ventured to Europe and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in London that her culinary passion truly flourished.

Life took a beautiful turn when Lya settled in New Orleans, seeking the best educational path for her daughter Sophie. Inspired by a Montessori lesson stumbled upon online, Lya embraced the Montessori philosophy wholeheartedly. Transitioning from the culinary world, she embarked on a remarkable Montessori journey, earning certifications in Primary, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary Montessori teaching.

For Lya, Montessori isn't just a teaching method—it's a lifestyle she's instilled in her own family. Her two daughters thrive under her guidance, embodying the principles of independence and exploration. Yet, Lya never abandoned her love for cooking. Combining her passions, she founded @Bon_appetit_summercamps, where she shares her culinary expertise with children, blending Montessori principles with the art of cooking.

With unwavering dedication, Lya Luna continues to enrich young minds, fostering a love for learning and gastronomy alike.
